Georgia can establish itself as a top-tier beast if it gets by South Carolina this weekend - and USC would drop to 0-2 in the league with a loss. Tennessee travels to Oklahoma, where Coach Bob Stoops doesn't believe the SEC is all-powerful.

BOULDER, CO (RNN) – The Georgia Bulldogs met their first ranked opponent in No. 21 Colorado Buffaloes and lost 84-70 on the road Saturday night.

The loss snapped the five-game winning streak for the Dawgs and ends 2013 with a loss.

Georgia (6-5) got within three points of the Colorado (11-2) lead, but the Buffaloes took advantage of Georgia's slow offensive output. After trailing by 11 points to end the first half, Georgia fell behind as many 13 points to begin the second half.

The Buffaloes' starting five all scored in double-digits, including 14 points and 13 rebounds from forward Josh Scott. Colorado was also perfect from the foul line, making all 26 of their free throw shots.

Guard Kenny Gaines was the leading scorer for the Bulldogs with 12 points.

Georgia stayed steady shooting from the floor, but it wasn't enough to keep up with the Buffaloes. The Bulldogs shot 50 percent from both field goal range and the free throw line. The Bulldogs were outrebounded 34-22 by the Buffaloes.

The Bulldogs will begin 2014 on the road against the George Washington Colonials on Friday, Jan. 3 at 7 p.m.
