LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – An early morning accident on Dixie Highway near Katherine Station Road left one man dead.

According to Bob Jones, the deputy coroner, Joseph Allen, 26, died from injuries sustained from the crash.

Louisville Metro Police spokesman Dwight Mitchell said around 1 a.m. a taxi going northbound on Dixie Highway hit Allen. Reports stated that Allen was standing in the roadway, but police aren't sure if he was crossing the street or walking along the highway when the accident happened.

That part of Dixie Highway was closed for several hours as the Louisville Metro Police Traffic Unit investigated the incident.

Allen was pronounced dead at the scene. He was from West Point, Kentucky.
