Horry County crews dispatched to house fire in Murrells Inlet

MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) – Horry County Fire Rescue crews were dispatched to a house fire in Murrells Inlet early Monday morning, according to officials.

Crews responded to the fire in the 9900 block of McDowell Shortcut Road shortly after they were dispatched at 6:14 a.m., said HCFR Investigator Kevin Rainier. The homeowner made the call reporting the fire, and several others called to report the fire as well.

When the fire company arrived, large flames were coming from the roof area; the fire had gotten into the attic area of the house, Rainier said.

No injuries to firefighters or residents were reported. The family did have visiting guests in the home with them.

Fire investigators were on scene Monday morning; the cause and origin of the fire have yet to be determined.
