Local man killed in scooter crash

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KAIT) – A Region 8 man died Saturday when he was thrown from his scooter.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, 24-year-old Michael B. Payne of Poplar Bluff died when his 2013 VIP Scooter overturned, ejecting him.

The crash happened at 10:46 p.m. on Highway 142, one mile south of Poplar Bluff.

Butler County Deputy Coroner Michael Elliot pronounced Payne dead at 11:32 p.m. before taking Payne's body to the Poplar Bluff City Morgue.
