Today's Most Innocent Mistake in the Cold: 12-year old girl gets tongue stuck on flagpole

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

TODAY'S MOST...innocent mistake in the cold: A 12-year old girl in New Hampshire accidentally stuck her tongue to a flag pole. Maddie Gilmartin said she just did it on a whim to see what would happen while she was out in her yard helping her dad shovel snow. Not surprisingly, her experiment did not go well. Maddie said as soon as she did it, "I was just like, did I really just do that to myself, like did I really just do that?" Her parents had to call 911, but they were able to get her tongue un-stuck by using hot water. She had to go to the hospital. She'll be OK, but the swelling in her mouth will probably last six weeks. We don't know if Maddie's ever seen "A Christmas Story."

TODAY'S MOST...bizarre political suggestion: A man running for senate in Nebraska suggests moving the capital of the country from Washington, DC to...Nebraska. Ben Sasse ran an ad during Sunday's football games that said the switch would fix the dysfunction in government. Sasse faces tough competition in the Republican primary, but whoever wins the primary will likely win the election since Nebraska is a very Republican-dominated state. Sasse admits his plan isn't likely to work, he calls it more of a "thought experiment."

Thanksgiving is a time to be with loved ones and enjoy good food, but since that is not an option for everyone, members of the Jonesboro community came together to make sure as many people as possible were fed.
