Palmetto Electric Cooperative said it reached
a new peak demand on Tuesday morning.
The new record demand hit 467 megawatts
between 9 and 10 a.m. Tuesday.
"This all-time record peak exceeds by 10
percent the previous peak of 420 megawatts set on December 14, 2010," said G.
Thomas Upshaw, Palmetto Electric Cooperative president and CEO, in a statement.
The weather also resulted in several outages.
