Gamecocks, Tigers end season in top ten

Another banner year wraps up for both the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Clemson Tigers this week. With the conclusion of Monday's BCS National Championship Game, the final top 25 polls for the year have been released, favoring both teams from the Palmetto State.

South Carolina finishes fourth in the AP poll and the USA Today Coaches Poll after capping off an 11-2 season after beating Wisconsin in the Capital One Bowl on New Year's Day. It is the first time in program history that the Gamecocks have finished in the top ten three years in a row. USC has also put together 33 wins over the last three seasons, winning 11 games each year.

Clemson checks in at eighth in the AP Poll and seventh in the Coaches. The preseason AP Poll also had the Tigers in eighth before the year started. Dabo Swinney's team made its second appearance in the Orange Bowl in the last three seasons, and this time picked up the school's first-ever BCS win when it defeated Ohio State 40-35. This marks Clemson's highest finish in the polls since the 1981 season, when it won a national championship.
