HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - Live thoroughbred racing is to return to Oaklawn Park on Friday as the track starts its 57-day 2014 season.
Friday's card includes nine races, including the $100,000 Dixie Belle Stakes, a six-furlong race for 3-year-old fillies. Two Kentucky-bred horses lead the nine-horse field. More Than Beauty opened at 8-5 odds and Street Story opened at 5-2.
The meeting will be the 110th for Oaklawn and the first race has a 1 p.m. post time Friday.
After this weekend, racing will be held each Thursday through Sunday, through April 12. Holiday cards will be featured on Jan. 20 and Feb. 17, and Wednesday racing is set for April 9.
The season concludes on April 12 with the running of the Grade I, $1 million Arkansas Derby.
