1 dead following major traffic crash near Brookland

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Paragould man is dead following a major traffic crash near Brookland last week.

The crash report from Arkansas State Police indicates Robert Thomas, 67, died following the wreck.

The crash happened at the intersection of Highway 49 and 49B on Jan. 10 at 10:20 a.m. near the Goobertown curve.

According to Arkansas State Police, the driver of a semi truck heading north on Highway 49B failed to stop at a stop sign and pulled into the path of Robert Thomas' car which was heading south on Highway 49.

The semi truck and trailer landed on top of the car.

The driver of the semi was taken to a hospital after the crash, but his condition is unknown.
