Sheriff: 3 year old shot in the head by father accidentally

GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - The accidental shooting death of a three-year-old boy continues to be investigated.

Greene County Sheriff Dan Langston said Logan Carter was shot in the head Saturday just before noon inside a home on County Road 336. He was later pronounced dead at a Paragould hospital.

Langston said Michael Carter, father of Logan, accidentally shot the boy with a .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun purchased online about a month ago.

The boy's mother and brother were in the home when it happened.

The case has been turned over to Greene County Deputy Prosecutor Kimberly Dale's Office to determine if charges will be filed.

How the gun went off is still under investigation.
