ST. LOUIS (Cardinals.com) - The Cardinals and longtime radio broadcaster Mike Shannon have agreed to a multiyear contract that will keep him in the booth well beyond his 42nd season.
Shannon, 74, will continue to call games on KMOX and the Cardinals Radio Network alongside John Rooney for the majority of Cardinals games this season (excluding approximately 50 road games).
"Mike's voice has become the soundtrack to St. Louis baseball," Cardinals president Bill DeWitt III said in a statement. "We look forward to having him back in the booth this season and for years to come."
Shannon will also continue his involvement with pre- and postgame shows, plus call-in segments for KMOX during morning shows throughout the season, and he will host "Live at Shannon's" after every Tuesday and Friday home game starting April 11.
