Louisville natives shine through Oscar nominations

BEVERLY HILL, CA (WAVE) – After months of speculation, the official nominations for the Academy Awards were announced in California Thursday morning.

Louisville is shining in the film industry with two natives nominated for the prestigious award.

Louisville's golden girl Jennifer Lawrence had her name called as a Best Supporting Actress nominee for ‘American Hustle.' Lawrence took home a golden award last year for her role in ‘Silver Linings Playbook.'

Producer Joey McFarland is no stranger to Louisville. McFarland attended DeSales and the University of Louisville before his career took him to New York City and Los Angeles. As his film ‘The Wolf of Wall Street,' continues to gain award show momentum, we can expect to see a lot more from this talented Louisvillian.
