1 dead, 4 injured in wreck on U.S. 63 near Poinsett Co. line

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -A Jonesboro woman is dead following a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 63. 

According to Arkansas State Police, the crash happened just north of the Poinsett County line coming into Craighead County just before 6 p.m. Thursday.

Maria Hernandez, 82, of Jonesboro was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash report states Hernandez was a passenger in a car headed north when it crossed the median and hit a car traveling south. The driver of the car that crossed the median was injured as well as a three year old.

Two people from Harrisburg in the second car were injured as well.

The child was taken to a hospital in Memphis, while the three injured adults were taken to a hospital in Jonesboro.
