Student suffers minor injuries after being struck by car

LEE'S SUMMIT, MO (KCTV) -

Police said a student was struck by a car while trying to catch her school bus Friday morning. She suffered minor injuries.

Emergency crews were called to Southwest Batten and Southwest Raintree drives about 8:30 a.m.

Their initial investigation shows that the girl was trying to cross Raintree Drive to catch her school bus when she was hit by a car that was traveling east on the same street. The school bus had stopped on Raintree Drive heading west, but had not yet deployed the stop arm.

The police investigation reveals that the student was walking beside the vehicle and, when she saw her bus was stopped, she ran into the roadway, in front of the vehicle.

The girl was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the car was not cited.
