Slick roads to blame for deadly Gallatin Co. crash, police ID victim

VERONA, KY (FOX19) -

A 59-year-old woman is dead following a two-vehicle accident in Gallatin County.

It was reported just after 2 p.m. in Verona, Ky. near the intersection of Kentucky 16 and Mars Drive.

Preliminary investigation reveals that a Toyota Corolla, driven by 59-year-old Linda Ruth, was traveling southbound on Kentucky 16 when she hit a slick spot in the road.

Police say that the vehicle crossed into the northbound lanes, striking a Chevrolet pickup truck.

Officers say Ruth, who was not wearing he seat belt, was ejected from her vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Gallatin County Coroner.

The driver of the pickup truck, identified as 37-year-old Albert Moore, was transported to UC Medical Center with minor injuries.
