Receiving a grant of $20,000, the Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan (JASEM) is committed to empowering young people by providing educational programs to help them succeed in a global economy. Aimed at K-12 students throughout the state of Michigan, JASEM teaches young people financial concepts, a vision of economic opportunity and reasons to stay motivated in school. The grant will go directly toward the development and implementation of the organization's existing financial literacy programs.  Members of PwC's Detroit office are also showing their support for Junior Achievement by volunteering as instructors for the initiative.

Receiving a grant of $30,000, the Detroit Revitalization Fellows Program (DRFP) is dedicated to utilizing locally-based, talented professionals who are placed in organizations that contribute to the revitalization of the city.  The DRFP focuses on real estate finance and development, community and economic development, and land use planning/implementation of the "Detroit Works Project." PwC's grant will directly support the planning and implementation of the "Detroit Dialogues" component of DRFP's programming in 2014, a crucial program consisting of critical conversations with business and community leaders around key issues facing the city, neighborhoods, and the region.

"We are thrilled to further our commitment to the resurgence and growth of the Detroit community through our support of Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan and the Detroit Revitalization Fellows Program," said Ray Telang, managing partner of PwC's Greater Michigan market. "Enhancing the developmental and educational opportunities for Detroit's next generation of professionals in order to attract and retain top talent in our market is a top priority for PwC, and our effort in the revitalization of our city is a key focus for our people. We hope that these contributions from the PwC Foundation will help the people in our community as we all collectively work to further improve the city in which we live, work and play."
