ROSEDALE, LA (WAFB) -

Outdoorsmen stumbled across a body in an Iberville parish sugarcane field around 1:30 Saturday afternoon, according to IPSO Chief Criminal Deputy Stephen Engolio. The field is located off of Sidney Road in Grosse Tete about a mile north of Interstate 10.

The victim is a black male, but his name and the manner of death have not been released. Detectives believe he is connected to a missing persons case out of West Baton Rouge Parish, Engolio said.

Investigators requested the State Police Crime Lab to help process evidence. West Baton Rouge Sheriff Mike Cazes was also at the scene.
