BOSSIER PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

An early morning fire heavily damaged a building in a north Bossier apartment complex Saturday.

Fire crews and emergency personnel were called to the Reserve Apartments around 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

The Benton and Bossier City Fire Departments both responded to the fire and found an entire building with 8 units fully engulfed in flames.  7 of the apartments were occupied at the time of the blaze.  One was vacant.

Everyone managed to get out safely except for a small dog that died in the fire.

The Bossier Sheriff's Office says when one of its deputies arrived on scene, he noticed someone in a second floor unit unable to get out.  The deputy climbed through a balcony to help the person down, said Sheriff's spokesman Bill Davis.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
