Jonesboro man injured while robbed at gunpoint

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – A Jonesboro man was injured Saturday when three people robbed him at gunpoint.

Joe Robinson with the Jonesboro Police Department was dispatched to an apartment at the 500 block of North Caraway Road around 10:15 p.m. Saturday, where a male caller said he had been robbed at gunpoint.

When Robinson arrived the victim, Willie Scales, was bleeding from his head.

Scales stated that three men came into his apartment through the front door that was unlocked, and one had a semi-automatic pistol. The men began demanding money and Scales' xbox one.

Scales said that he was in his bedroom doorway when the suspect with the gun hit him in the head with the pistol. The pistol then went off, leaving a bullet hole in the bedroom wall.

Scales was taken to St. Bernards Hospital to be treated for the large cut on the back of his head.

Four other victims who were in the apartment gave similar stories as Scales.

The only description that the victims gave was that the men were in dark colored hoodies and wore bandanas over their faces. They also said that the suspects were short and sounded like they could be in their early 20s.

Four cell phones and money was stolen from the apartment.

There was also marijuana found in a mason jar in Scales' closet. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
