UCP Telethon raises over $94K

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Volunteers and a "superstar" helped to raise thousands of dollars for the United Cerebral Palsy of Northeast Arkansas.

A preliminary total of $94,122 was raised during the UCP Telethon on Sunday.

Region 8 News personalities canvassed the volunteers on the phones taking donations in the name of UCP. Donations were taken during the live telethon broadcast from Arkansas State University that began Sunday afternoon and lasted well into the evening.

The event was highlight by this year's UCP Superstar, 8-year-old Devrett Dodson of Trumann who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at the age of one.

The telethon raises money for medical and support services, even life-changing medical equipment.
