Local man pleads guilty to computer child porn, gets two years in prison

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A Craighead County judge accepted the guilty plea of a man charged with computer child pornography, according to court records filed in the Arkansas Office of the Courts.

Court documents stated Carl Russell Carter, 55, of Bay pleaded guilty to computer child pornography and was sentenced to two years in prison. Craighead County Circuit Judge Cindy Thyer also sentenced Carter to 72 months suspended imposition of sentence after his prison sentenced is fulfilled.

Arrest records stated that Carter exchanged hundreds of texts and emails with what he thought was a teenage boy. Instead, it was a Jonesboro police officer.

Sgt. Doug Formon said Carter also exchanged 50 emails through Jan. 27, 2014, when Carter agreed to meet.
