SEMO man arrested for counterfeit bills

STEELE, MO (KAIT) – Counterfeit cash leads to the arrest of a southeast Missouri man.

According to Steele Police Chief Billy Joe Stanfield, on Monday, two businesses told officers a man was passing counterfeit bills.

An investigation of the crime led to the arrest of Edmond Hatley, 73, of Steele. Police said Hatley had counterfeit bills on him when taken into custody.

Hatley was charged with three counts of forgery.

He has been released from the Pemiscot County Jail on $10,000 bond.
