Man shot in legs drives self to THP checkpoint for help

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Police say two people are in custody after a man was shot in the legs Friday evening in south Nashville.

The man was shot about 7 p.m. in a residential area near Murfreesboro Road and Edge O Lake Drive.

He then got into his personal vehicle and was able to drive away, coming upon a Tennessee Highway Patrol checkpoint a short distance away.

The man told state troopers he had been shot, and he was then transported to an area hospital for treatment.

He is expected to survive, police said.

Two suspects were taken into custody, but their identities and a possible motive have not been released.
