Incumbent Mayor Mitch Landrieu will hold on to his seat in City Hall after beating Danatus King and Michael Bagneris based on election day results.

Landrieu won with nearly 64 percent of the vote.

Landrieu said when he took office four years ago the city was in disarray. He said his administration helped spur recovery and redevelopment. He pointed to achievements like pulling the city out of a $100 million hole in the budget and laying the ground for huge projects like building a new airport and medical district.

Landrieu said his next challenge is to producer thousands of new jobs to help fight crime. He hopes to hire 1,600 new New Orleans Police Department officers.

Bagneris gave up his seat as an Orleans Civil District Court judge to run for the city's top office.  His biggest concerns were crime and public safety. Bagneris said he would put more police officers on the street and possibly change the department's leadership.

King, the head of the New Orleans NAACP chapter ran on a platform that included replacing New Orleans Police Superintendent Ronal Serpas if King won.

King said Landrieu did not do enough to help rebuild the lower Ninth Ward and eastern New Orleans. King promised to use tax incentives to attract businesses like grocery stores to those areas.

Landrieu won more than 65 percent of the vote in 2010.  He was running against 10 opponents that year.
