WALNUT RIDGE, AR(KAIT) – A Region 8 couple was arrested on drug trafficking charges following a Friday night traffic stop.

Scott Callahan of Bono and Taylor Fisher of Hoxie are both charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms.

According to Sheriff Jody Dotson, the two were arrested following a ‘suspicious vehicle" stop on Lawrence County Road 700.

After noticing the suspects were acting nervously, Dotson said the officer asked permission to search the car.

When the driver refused to consent, the deputy called for additional officers, including a K9 unit.

Once on the scene, Dotson said the K9 gave a positive alert on the vehicle.

Officers then searched the car and found a handgun and 19 grams of methamphetamine, Dotson said.

Fisher and Callahan were arrested and taken to the Lawrence County Jail to await a bond hearing.
