CALICO ROCK, AR (KAIT) – An Izard County man who claimed he needed to see a sick family member was arrested after being on the run from authorities.
According to Sheriff Tate Lawrence, Daniel Dwight of Calico Rock was arrested on Feb. 12 in Harrison.
Dwight was recently released from jail claiming he needed to see his sick daughter in Little Rock. However, the sheriff stated in an earlier news release Dwight was seen numerous times "in the local area" not in Little Rock where his child was supposedly hospitalized.
Lawrence stated Dwight is accused of forging five checks and cashing them in Calico Rock. Current charges for him include failure to appear and second degree forgery.
The sheriff's department is investigating other complaints of forgery against Dwight. He is currently in the Izard County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond.
In a separate case, the sheriff was also seeking another man from Calico Rock, Carl Vannatter. He was arrested on Feb. 3 by Izard County Sheriff's deputies at a residence in Gassville after spotting the man's vehicle.
Sheriff Lawrence states suspected meth and drug paraphernalia was found inside his vehicle at the time of his arrest. Vannatter was arrested on a petition to revoke his probation/parole and is suspected of theft of property of a family member.
