MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC-TV) - A former Memphis police officer was found not guilty of harassment Thursday.

In the fall of 2012, a driver reported off-duty Memphis officer Darrell Malone after spotting a group of motorcyclists driving recklessly on Interstate 40 at Germantown Parkway.

The driver told authorities he pulled up next to Malone and threatened to call police. He claims the off-duty officer showed him his handgun in a holster and said "I am the police."

Malone said that he was traveling northbound on Germantown Parkway when he, and another motorcyclist, were cut off by a driver in an SUV. Malone said that he attempted to flag the driver down to alert him that the motorcyclists were in the lane next to him. Also, he said that he did have a weapon holstered on his side and that the driver may have seen his weapon while he was trying to flag him down.

The motorcyclists pulled into a parking lot off Germantown Parkway near Giacosa Place with an officer taking information about the incident. The SUV driver did not remain on the scene, but later contacted the communications bureau and said that he was contacted by Malone on the phone.

Malone's trial started Tuesday.
