GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The coroner said one of two people who were shot at a birthday party Monday night has died and deputies are still looking for the shooter.

Greenville County deputies said they were searching for a suspect after two men were shot at a trailer along Luke Lane at Dixie Circle just before 11 p.m. on Monday.

Deputies said the shots were fired during a birthday party at the trailer; one victim was found in the living room and the other in the kitchen. Deputies said the victims were outside when someone behind a nearby trailer fired shots.

K-9 units were on the scene assisting deputies in the search just before midnight.

Investigators initially reported that one of the victims was in serious condition and the other suffered minor injuries.

Coroner Parks Evans said one of the victims died at the hospital Tuesday morning. He identified the victim as Javario Brooks, 22, of Greenville. Evans said Brooks died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

The victim's mother, Jovanda Thompson, told FOX Carolina that her son played football for Carolina High.

Evans has ruled the death a homicide.

So far, deputies have not said if the suspect has been identified. They said they are still interviewing witnesses about the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 864-23-CRIME.
