Source: 82-year-old found in south Charlotte home died from blunt force trauma

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A source close to the investigation tells WBTV that an elderly woman who was found dead in her home on Tuesday died from blunt force trauma.

The incident was reported at 9:29 a.m. on Tuesday in the 4900 block of Torrey Pines Court, according to the news release from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

The victim was identified as 82-year-old Ina Feldman, according to police. 

Officers were responding to an assault with a deadly weapon call from Feldman's son, who told police he came home to check on her and found her dead. 

Investigators have ruled Feldman's death as a homicide, but would not comment on the manner of death, or if there were signs of forced entry.

A $5,000 reward is also being offered for information leading to the arrest. 

Extra patrols in the South Division, an area traditionally with low crime rates, as the department continues its investigation.
