Longtime fire chief dead of heart attack

LAFE, AR  (KAIT) - Residents in the small town of Lafe in rural Greene County learned Tuesday that their longtime fire chief died early Tuesday morning.

According to the Lafe Fire Department, Lafe Fire Chief Burt Lee died of a heart attack at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

He was 56 years old.

According to firefighters, Lee served as fire chief for the volunteer fire department for 15 years.

Assistant Fire Chief Scott Crossno will handle the duties of fire chief until a new chief is named.
Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
