POLAR BEAR CAM

Weather only polar bears love

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

With most Kansas City residents hunkered down due to heavy snow, two particularly relished the elements.

Nikita and Berlin sparred, frolicked and fought over toys and treats in the snow.

The Kansas City Zoo shuttered its doors on Tuesday due to the storm but Nikita and Berlin put on a show via the KCTV5 polar bear cam.

Nikita was out late morning and then retreated back inside when the snow became especially thick. But when it let up slightly, Nikita came out to snow bathe. Berlin soon followed and headed for treats.

Nikita put on his best charm including rolling on his belly and trying to sneak forward on his belly to steal some treats, but Berlin was having none of it. She stood her ground and would not share.

The two bears mated last spring, but Berlin didn't have any cubs. The two bears are back together and seem to be getting along better than they did over the summer. The hope is their romance will be rekindled.

So far no polar bear cubs have been born in U.S. zoos this winter.
