More than $1.5M in funding to aid AR winter storm recovery

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Recovery continues after a winter storm hit Arkansas in December. Now more federal aid is coming in the form of a grant.

A news release from the U.S. Department of Labor Wednesday announced a $1,520,243 National Emergency Grant will aid the North Central, Northwest and Western Arkansas. This is to help in the cleanup and recovery of the winter storm that hit Dec. 5-6.

The grant will help the counties of Crawford, Franklin, Logan, Madison, Marion, Newton, Polk, Scott, Searcy, Sebastian, Sharp and Van Buren.

In early January FEMA declared several counties approved for the agency's Public Assistance Program. The list includes Crawford, Franklin, Fulton, Johnson, Logan, Madison, Marion, Newton, Polk, Scott, Searcy, Sebastian, Sharp and Van Buren.

More counties could be added later upon further evaluation by FEMA.
