Benefit to be held for Izard Co. officer's family

MELBOURNE, AR (KAIT) – A benefit is planned for the family of an Izard County Sheriff's Department officer after his unexpected death.

The benefit is for the family of Corporal Rick Hill who died a last month, according to the sheriff's department. It will be held on Feb. 15 at the Izard County Fairgrounds at 2 p.m.

There will be an auction of donated items, a chili meal with all the trimmings and pony cart rides for children. Chances to win a Savage Axis .243 rifle are being sold at the sheriff's office. It will be given away during the benefit.

Donations for the family can be made to an established account at the First National Bank of Izard County in Melbourne, Calico Rock, Mountain View and Mount Pleasant.
