JONESBORO (AStateRedWolves.com) – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) recently launched the NCAA 6th Fan contest, an exciting nationwide online competition that will determine which Division I school has the most school pride and supportive fans and Arkansas State University is presently in first place during the current first round of voting.
With the NCAA 6th Fan contest field narrowing to 16 schools for the contest's upcoming second round, NCAA.com is challenging Arkansas State fans along with those of other NCAA Division I men's basketball programs to continue casting their votes on NCAA.com by Sunday, Feb. 16, and prove A-State belongs in the Sweet Sixteen of the most spirited, dedicated and passionate fans.
Presently, A-State is first in voting for the Sweet Sixteen with a week remaining in the first round as of Feb. 7. The Red Wolves are tops among 32 schools to be listed in voting for the NCAA 6th Fan contest.
Fans can vote in the contest at www.ncaa.com/6thFan along with checking out the current rankings, daily vote leaders, and biggest movers.
To prove the Arkansas State fan base is the most passionate, Red Wolves fans are asked to vote daily on NCAA.com or via Twitter by Tweeting or Retweeting the #6thFan hashtag and #ArkSt hashtag, listed at www.ncaa.com/6thFan. Red Wolves fans also can connect their Facebook to the site to vote and register for a chance to win prizes.
The top 16 schools through the final first-round voting will advance to the head-to-head seeded bracket phase of the competition on Monday, Feb. 17. Each school advancing to the 6th Fan's Sweet Sixteen will receive $10,000 towards its general scholarship fund. After a week of Round Two voting, schools which receive more votes than their head-to-head competitor will advance to the Elite 8 with those remaining eight schools announced Monday, Feb. 24.
Following another week of head-to-head voting matchups, those schools progressing to the contest's Final Four will be announced Monday, March 3, and the two finalists will be named on Monday, March 10.
The school generating the most votes in the final round of the 6th Fan contest, which ends March 16 on Selection Sunday will win a $100,000 contribution to its general scholarship fund.
