ASU Bowling finishes 2nd at Wildcat Invitational

DeLand, Fla. (AStateRedWolves.com) – The Arkansas State women's bowling squad secured a second-place finish at the Wildcat Invitational Sunday at the Sunshine Bowling Center in DeLand, Fla.

The No. 1-ranked Red Wolves entered Sunday's bracket play as the number one seed, but lost a tough match to second seeded Central Missouri by a score of 4-2.  A-State (59-21) squared off against the third seed McKendree for the right to advance to the championship match and the Red Wolves claimed a 4-0 victory over the Bearcats to set up a rematch with Central Missouri.  The Jennies were able to defeat Arkansas State 4-0 and earn the Wildcat Invitational championship while the Red Wolves settled for second place.

"We just got beat today by a good team in Central Missouri," A-State women's bowling coach Justin Kostick said.  "There is a lot of room for improvement and we need to play better in Houston."

A-State finished the Wildcat Invitational with an 8-5 record and placed two members on the all-tournament team with Sarah Lokker earning MVP honors and Ashley Rucker finishing in second place.

Arkansas State returns to action Feb. 14-16 at the Sam Houston State Kat Klash Invitational in Houston, Texas.
