MELBOURNE, AR (KAIT) – A tip from a concerned citizen led to the arrest of a wanted sex offender.

On Sunday afternoon, deputies with the Izard County Sheriff's Department arrested James Aaron Rittenberry, 36, at a home in the 400-block of Hicks Lane in Violet Hill.

According to Sheriff Tate Lawrence, Rittenberry was convicted in South Carolina with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, and sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old female.

Rittenberry is also an absconder out of Pine Bluff for failing to keep his sex offender registration current, Lawrence said.

He is currently being held in the Izard County Detention Facility pending formal charges of failing to register in Izard County.
