Arkansas to honor Bill Clinton & Final Four teams on Saturday

FAYETTEVILLE ( - The University of Arkansas will celebrate the championship legacy of Razorback Basketball this weekend as members of the Razorbacks' NCAA Final Four men's basketball teams will be honored at this Saturday's game against LSU in Bud Walton Arena (4 p.m. CT). The Razorbacks have made a trip to the NCAA Final Four six times in history: in 1941, 1945, 1978, 1990, 1995, along with the National Championship season of 1994.

The Final Four Razorbacks will attend a private reunion luncheon and will be honored as part of halftime festivities. Among those former Hogs scheduled to attend include: Coach Nolan Richardson, Corliss Williamson, Scotty Thurman, Al Dillard, Jim Counce, Lee Mayberry, Todd Day, U.S. Reed, Oliver Miller and former radio play-by-play broadcaster Mike Nail.

In addition, former Arkansas governor and President of the United States, Bill Clinton, will help celebrate the 20th anniversary of the NCAA Championship team.   President Clinton attended the NCAA Championship game in Charlotte, NC on April 4, 1994 and will be presented a framed No. 42 jersey as part of the celebration. Clinton was the 42nd President of the United States and the 42nd Governor of the State of Arkansas and is the only sitting President to attend a NCAA Championship game. Former President's Franklin Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford each passed on opportunities to watch their home state teams play in the title game while in office.

"We are pleased to welcome these Razorback Basketball greats back to campus as they are as much a part of our present as they are our past," Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long said. "Arkansas Basketball has a proud tradition of success, highlighted by the six teams who made it to the Final Four. We appreciate President Clinton, a longtime fan of Razorback Basketball, for joining us to help honor these special former Razorback student-athletes. We look forward to giving our fans the chance to pay tribute to these greats and make them feel back at home in Bud Walton Arena."
