JONESBORO, AR   (KAIT) – A Colorado based company that closed in 2012 before reopening in 2013 will close in mid-May, according to a news release. Startek, 2908 South Caraway Road, reopened in Jonesboro in May of 2012, promising to bring 250 jobs to the community. As of right now, the company employs 125 people.

"The center has performed very well for us and we have enjoyed working in Jonesboro," said Jay Kirksey, Senior Vice President of Human Resources in the release. "The decision to close the site was made as a strategic business decision. We are very grateful to our employees for the good work they have done for us."

The 125 people were told they would not be employed at the facility today. The last day of operations is May 12, 2014. The company indicated it would help employees with career services.

Startek is a call center for various companies in the consumer relations field.

The company laid off more than 200 employees in February of 2012, only to announce the hiring of 250 four months later.
