Names released in Greene Co. house fire

GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - The names of two children killed in a house fire Wednesday morning have been released. According to Chief Deputy Shannon Anthony with the Greene County Sheriff's Office, Brianna Scott, 10, and Christopher Scott, 9, were found dead in what's believed to be a bedroom area of their home.

The home was destroyed by the fire.

Sheriff Dan Langston said the two children were found in the burnt home on Greene County Road 739. The fire started between 6:00 and 6:30 a.m. near the Craighead/Greene County line.

Three fire departments were called to the home, including two from Craighead County.

Police have not released a cause of the fire, but are focusing on auxilary sources of heat as a possible cause. Investigators are also trying to determine if the children were alone in the home.

"When they told us the kids were in there, I was just like, 'Oh, no,'" neighbor Eddie Dunavant said.
