Trey Killian suspended first 6 games of season

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - The University of Arkansas says it will hold a sophomore pitcher out of six games to start the season because of a potential violation that occurred during his high school years.

The school released a statement Wednesday saying Trey Killian would sit out the first six games of the season due to something that occurred before he attended Arkansas. The school blamed an "impermissible interaction" while he was in high school, but did not provide details.

The university statement said it had worked with the NCAA to resolve the case prior to the start of the Razorbacks' baseball season.

Arkansas opens its 2014 season this weekend against Appalachian State.
