Gassville man arrested after he deposited fake money in bank

Posted: Updated:

MOUNTAIN HOME, AR (KAIT) – A man who tried to use fake cash in several stores and local banks was arrested by three different law enforcement agencies.

A news release by Mountain Home police said on February 4, the Gassville Police Department worked a case at a local store where a man used a fake $20 bill. The store owner told police the suspect left before police got there.

Mountain Home police said they were called out to a local bank on February 5 after fake money was deposited. Police noticed the serial number on the fake cash at the bank matched the fake cash used at the Gassville store.

On Monday, Gassville police officers were called out to two other businesses after fake money was used.

Arkansas State Police and Gassville Police were able to identify a suspect from the surveillance video.

Police headed to the suspect's home to interview him. Gassville officers searched the home and found a printer they believed to be used to make the fake money.

Lonnie Michael Tolliver, 32, was charged with 4 counts of forgery and criminal possession of a forgery device.

Tolliver was taken to the Baxter County Jail and had his bond set at $100,000.

Mountain Home police said the U.S. Secret Service was notified about the case and is expected to join the other agencies in the investigation.
