BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – A man was arrested Friday afternoon for violating the Sex Offender Registration Act after the sheriff's office learned that he was not living at his listed address in Norfork anymore.
Jacob Deal Langston, 27, was registered as a level 3 sex offender with the sheriff's office and stated that he lived in the Norfork Community. He was convicted on April 29, 2008, in Izard County for sexual assault, robbery, and other charges. He had beaten and sexually assaulted a woman.
The Baxter County Sheriff's Department was contacted Friday afternoon by the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections who said that they received information that Langston was no longer living in Norfork. He was instead residing at the Bungalow Resorts on Cranfield Road, Easts of Mountain Home.
Investigators with the sheriff's department went to the apartment at Bungalow Resorts where they believed Langston was. They asked the woman there, 46-year-old Sherry Wannette Dickerson, if Langston was there. She said that he wasn't there and had not been living there.
Officers searched the apartment and found Langston hiding in a bedroom. They believe he had been living there for about three weeks.
Langston was arrested and taken to the Baxter County Detention Center. He was charged with a felony for failure to register as a sex offender.
His bond was set at $15,000 and he is set to appear in Circuit Court on February 20.
Dickerson was also arrested and taken to the Baxter County Detention Center where she was charged with a misdemeanor for obstructing governmental operations.
Her bond was set at $270 and she will appear in District Court on March 6.
