Forest service, Red Cross on scene at woods fire in Bowie Co.

BOWIE COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Multiple agencies are working together to fight a woods fire in Bowie County Monday afternoon.

The blaze is burning in a wooded area off of Meredith Way in the Red Springs community. This is near the intersection of Farm to Market 2148 and Highway 67.

The fire started just before 1:30 p.m. The Liberty-Elyau Volunteer Fire Department reports that over ten acres have burned. The fire is listed as being at zero containment. It is unknown if any homes are threatened at this time.

The Texas A&M Forest Service, Liberty-Elyau and Redwater Volunteer Fire Departments are on scene. The American Red Cross is also on scene to assist.
