NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A group of people who have been working for years to figure out if Louisiana has too many district and city court judges needs more time to come to a conclusion.

According to our partners at Nola.com | The Times-Picayune, the group's ambiguity on the issue jeopardizes any chance judgeships would be eliminated or transferred to underserved jurisdictions before this fall's statewide elections.

A committee of lawmakers, lawyers and private citizens has been working for three years to figure out where to cut or shuffle existing judgeships.

State lawmakers hoped the committee would finish its work this month.
