ASU museum holds TinkerFest for Black History Month

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – To celebrate Black History Month, the Arkansas State University Museum held a special TinkerFest Tuesday night.

During TinkerFest, participants were allowed to invent, take apart and tinker with gadgets to learn how things work.

"We learn by doing, mainly," said Jill Kary, Curator of Education at the museum. "If we could do it with our hands, we learn how it's done and we learn how things work and science is the same way."

Kary said the event is focused on African-American inventors and their contributions. Inventions such as the clock, gas mask and potato chip were invented by African-Americans.

The event lasted from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
