Jonesboro man accused of shooting another man

JONESBORO, AR  (KAIT) – A Jonesboro man was charged with first degree battery and simultaneous possession of drugs and a firearm Wednesday afternoon, according to Sgt. Doug Formon with the Jonesboro Police Department.

Formon told Region 8 News that Kwane' Hudson, 20, of Jonesboro was arrested after turning himself in Wednesday. Formon said Hudson was wanted for the shooting of Casey Lewis, 19, of Jonesboro.

According to police, Lewis went to the home of Hudson on Daybreak Drive and approached the front door shortly before noon. When Hudson saw Lewis, he pulled a 9mm handgun and shot Lewis in the upper rear thigh, Formon said.

Formon said officers discovered a large amount of marijuana, scales and the handgun at the scene.

It's also believed the incident stirred from a previous altercation.

Lewis was treated for the gunshot wound and released from a local hospital.

Hudson will be arraigned Thursday at 2pm in Jonesboro District Court.
