ASU Men rally to beat Texas State

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Ed Townsel scored 20 points and Cameron Golden sank the go-ahead jumper to lead Arkansas State to a 73-68 win over Texas State on Saturday.

After leading much of the game, Arkansas State (16-9, 9-5 Sun Belt Conference) fell behind by as much as five points midway through the second half before recovering down the stretch with a 10-2 run that included Golden's key jumper and was capped by a Kirk Van Slyke layup that made it 66-62 with 3 minutes to go. The win was cemented with 7-for-8 shooting from the free throw line.

Melvin Johnson III contributed 17 points, Van Slyke finished with 14, while Golden and Kendrick Washington had 10 apiece for the Red Wolves, who shot 52 percent from the field and have won five of their last six games.

Texas State (8-19, 4-10) got 19 points from Joel Wright and 18 from Phil Hawkins.
