TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The man accused of leaving the scene of a deadly hit-and-run accident faced a judge for the first time Monday.

On Friday, police arrested Derrick Gulch, 25, after Thressa James, 26, was found dead on the side of the road at the intersection of Detroit Avenue and Willamont Road.

A witness gave officers a vehicle description, including a license plate number, that led police to Gulch.

Gulch is currently only being charged with leaving the scene of an accident. His case was continued until Tuesday because he did not qualify for a public attorney. His bond was set at $20,000.
