Arkansas State advances to Elite Eight of NCAA 6th Fan Contest

JONESBORO, Ark. ( – With the overwhelming support of its fans, Arkansas State University has moved to the Elite Eight of the NCAA 6th Fan contest in an announcement made Monday by the NCAA, CBS Sports and Turner Sports.

The Red Wolves, who are seeded second, advanced to the final eight and will now face seventh-seed Bryant University after topping the University of North Carolina, Greensboro in Sweet Sixteen balloting. Bryant University, located in Smithfield, Rhode Island, advanced to the Elite Eight round as a result of the Bulldogs besting University of North Carolina, Asheville (52% to 48%) in fan voting.   A live video stream announcing the Elite Eight in the NCAA 6th Fan contest featuring CBS Sports Analyst Clark Kellogg will be broadcast this Monday (Feb. 24) at 6 p.m.(CT) on YouTube and from the NCAA March Madness Google + page.

A-State fans are encouraged to show their Pack Pride and continue voting daily for the Red Wolves online at NCAA 6th Fan through Facebook or via Twitter by using hashtags #6thFan and #ArkSt in tweets.  Voting for the Elite Eight concludes this Sunday (March 3) at 11 p.m. (CT) as four schools will advance to the contest's Final Four.  Those A-State fans who connect their Facebook to the NCAA's 6th Fan website at to vote can register for an opportunity to win prizes.

The ASU Alumni Association has pledged $10,000 to the general scholarship fund if the Red Wolves advance to the Final Four of the NCAA 6th Fan Contest.  Show your #PackPride by voting daily and speading the word to other A-State fans to get out the vote.

The top vote getter among the two finalists of the 6th Fan contest will be announced March 16 on Selection Sunday and receive $100,000 contribution to its school's general scholarship fund.

A-State has already been awarded $10,000 in general scholarship funds for advancing to the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA 6th Fan Competition.
