TRUMANN, AR (KAIT) -

A Poinsett County judge sentenced a Trumann man to five years in prison for “inappropriately touching himself in front of a child” and showing the child pornography.

John Hillis, 35, of Trumann pleaded guilty to felony sexual indecency with a child, according to a sentencing order filed in Poinsett County Circuit Court. Hillis was also given 72 months suspended imposition of sentence on the charge of sexually grooming a child.

According to Lt. Lenny Becker with the Trumann Police Department, the incident happened on Dec. 22, 2013. Becker said the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division interviewed a young child who said John touched himself and showed the child pornography.

Hillis' wife, Ashley Hillis, was charged with permitting child abuse and given a $100,000 bond. She is due back in court Jan. 5, 2015.
